So You Want to Get Married!
Marriage is an important step in your journey together as a couple. Believing God desires us to share in relationships that are faithful, loving, mutually satisfying, and continually growing, we at Manor Road United Church would be happy to play a part in your special day. Our minister, Rev. Dr. John Joseph Mastandrea will officiate at your wedding service.
Manor Road United Church encourages the participation of people of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, sexual preferences, and economic circumstances. We would be delighted to help you plan and celebrate the making of your marriage vows to one another. Congregational membership is not a requirement.
A Message from Rev. Dr. John Joseph Mastandrea
As the minister at Manor Road, I generally meet with you two times prior to the rehearsal. During the first meeting, we spend time getting to know one another, talking about your relationship, and having some initial conversation about your wedding ceremony. I provide you with information such as sample wedding services, readings, prayers, and vows; and, we begin to think about who will be included in the ceremony, and how they will participate. During our second meeting we make decisions about the ceremony’s format and content and make final decisions about participation of family and friends. After that meeting, I pull the service together and e-mail it to you for your review and comments (or sometimes it’s the other way around!). Together we will create a ceremony that honours your love for one another; and reflects who you are and what you hold precious as a couple. Generally we hold a rehearsal a day to two before the wedding.
The cost of a wedding at Manor Road United Church is:
• $100/hour for the Church (including set-up and take-down)
• $300 for the Minister ($400 if off-site)
• $150 for the Organist/Pianist ($200 for service, consultation and required practice time with soloist)
• $100 for the Soloist (if requested)
• $125 for the Custodian (required)
To reserve the Church for your wedding, we request a $200 deposit. The remainder is to be paid at our second meeting. If cost is prohibitive, please let us know. Individuals listed above should be paid individually. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
