When the Word comes to Life

Bible Text: Acts 8:26-39 |

Both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles are addressed to Theophilus, meaning ‘Lover of God’. Scholars are uncertain whether these early reports are addressed to a particular person, or to all those who love God, but both are clearly written by the same author.  Luke tells the stories of Jesus; while Acts tell us about the life and ministry of the apostles and the early church. The theme of Acts is well expressed in chapter 1, verse 8, where the risen Christ is reported as saying to the apostles: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
