Communion Hiroshima Day
2 Samuel 11:26-12:13Ephesians 4:1-16 • John 6:24-35
We are the bread. We have been making bread, sour dough, bagels, pesto bread.
I remember bagels in Kensington market, Perugina’s the Italian Bakery, bread in Harrington Harbour, Quebecois bread and maple butter.
My first Communion in confirmation.
We are the bread, then for the people of the Hebrews. There came a traveler, children, Israel marching from Egypt. Children wandering in the wilderness. Liberation, liberation and liberation. Where, when, how, building relationships, that sustain, civilization, economic. Children finding manna, family nurture. New kids on the block. Wealth, affection, quarrel, dispute, listen, resolve.
Children finding identity in the promised land.
Eat of the abundant fare. Listen to the law that brings foundation, guidance. Find the tribes, the creator, source of the land, Hebrews planting. People confronting neighbours, warriors, young, elder, order inside and outside.
Confront the other, prisoner, confession, recollection. God’s work, ministry, equip to serve make the kingdom, praise God.
Find the sacred time, bread given from heaven. Find troubles, witness miracles, feeding many, walking on water. The logos, the word of God.
Find words “I am the bread of life.” The Habitat for humanity. A home for all, sanctuary for the people, the power of love, knowledge, human need, little becomes much, work for humanity.
Incarnation, God with us, NOW!
