    Year C

We are the branch, the limb, the shoot and the bud, the home of the bird, the next steps for school, the timber for the beaver, the shade for the refuge. We are the branch for human reality, promise, light of both night and day, the experience of exile. We are the waiting in destruction, lamentation looking for promise in the devastation and the consolation, captive we cry, make angry in despair, in terror seek hope for return. We are the branch made for the house of humanity, to secure the future.

We cannot thank God, enough, in the window of coming, the embryo to render night and day and the lens to see. There will be signs. The promise is radical, fearful, strange when we stand before the son, with expectation, drawing, near, be alert, advent, bring broken, hurting. We are the branch, stand up, prepare, the earth shattering welcome; the birth, of peace!
