ASCENSION
We rise again, in so many moments of our lives. I recall Chinese Lanterns in Mexico.
I recall the fire that ignited the rising of the lantern and our hopes.
This week hear the word, restore the kingdom of Israel. This week we look to lift our hearts, as we name the barriers of separation, to find transformation in the timid band of believers. In silence we proclaim the kingdom. Jesus taught “the kingdom of God is near”. In the moments we are apart we experience the living presence of the promise of the assurance to create space to huddle. In that space we confront our fear of isolation, locked out of the world. We long to return to the familiar. The familiar for Peter was going fishing. The familiar for everyone of us to rediscover the grace and compassion of the living Christ. The eyes of our heart are enlightened. We confront the pain of the shadow, crucify the barriers that separate and find ourselves, our ego, naked and vulnerable. Our minds are opened, we are astonished, Jesus carried into heaven proclaims the text. It is the moment of revelation, ascension is milestone for all of us where we cross over, apart but never alone. We rise again in the promise in the conversations, in the questions, as we tell the stories of human encounter and sacrificial love. We rise again, to become restorers of the kingdom, creating a channel of communication between human divine. We rise in glory of God; we shout out now!
Jesus carries our humanity today. We rise again.
