We Are An Affirming Congregation!

In 2015 Manor Road United was designated an Affirming Ministry within The United Church of Canada.
This was a thoughtful, educational and deliberate process that occurred between a committee of passionate volunteers, the church’s Minister, and all who gather as the Manor Road congregation.
Affirming Ministries provide information, acceptance, support, and justice-making for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and their friends and families. They declare in words and actions, that God loves and accepts people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender in the same way that God loves and accepts us all. And they call upon the rest of the church and society to do the same.
Affirming ministries are also aware that those of different sexual orientation or gender identity are not alone in being marginalized by church and society, and that we are also called to work for greater understanding, sensitivity, and inclusion of all those seeking a spiritual home, particularly those whom we might inadvertently exclude.
Manor Road United has several members that are openly part of the LGBTQ community and some have taken time to publicly speak to the congregation about their life in order to help our people to better understand LGBTQ issues.
Manor Road United Church affirms and stands by The United Church of Canada’s policy to welcome all people into our congregation regardless of age, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability or economic circumstance.
Manor Road United Church, along with the broader United Church of Canada also recognizes, and supports and celebrates same sex marriage

Manor Road United Church is on the traditional home of the Huron-Wendat Nation, Metis Nation of Ontario, Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and Six Nations of the Grand River. May we be connected to the heartbeat of the Spirit as one.
