This week on the Friday Speaker Series, musician, composer and recording artist Debbie Danbrook shares “What is Beltane?” and walking the Labyrinth while playing her Shakuhachi flute, an ancient Japanese instrument. The Labyrinth is an ancient Sacred Symbol used for Walking Meditation, for Grounding, for Clearing and Balancing Chakras and for inviting in Spiritual Guides and Angels.
The Friday Speaker Series runs from 1PM to 3PM via Zoom and is hosted by Dr. Rev. John Joseph Mastandrea. The program aims to help seniors and neighbours in the community cope with isolation brought on by COVID-19 restrictions.
The program is free and open to everyone! For the Zoom link, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you know of seniors who may be interested but need some support, drop us a line and we can help them learn how to use Zoom along with their devices.
Guaranteed Livable income
The United Church of Canada believes that, “A guaranteed livable income (GLI) is a payment to individuals or families by government that covers the cost of basic necessities (food, shelter, clothing, transportation, and community participation) and is not conditional on meeting employment criteria in order to qualify for the benefit. It ensures everyone an income adequate for meeting basic needs, allowing all people to live with dignity regardless of work status. Such a program would be part of the national fabric of services that preserve and protect Canadians; or, as Jesus put it, “to love our neighbours as ourselves.” Visit the UCC’s website to learn what actions to take to make the GLI a reality.
